I’ve got some exciting news!

Some of you may know I was able to fulfill a bucket list dream of being a TEDx speaker as part of TEDxRRU (at Royal Roads University) in May 2024.

The experience was incredible. From the nerve-wracking audition to hearing from Lara Scott, MBA I made the cut, followed by 3+ months of weekly coaching from Ed Illi and a brilliant team of TEDx coaches, to sharing the stage with an incredible group of speakers - it was truly life-changing. I learned so much about the process, about storytelling, and about myself - and made some fantastic friendships along the way.

It feels like yesterday and yet a lifetime ago since I stood on that red dot. But this week, the memories came flooding back when I received an unexpected message… from TED.com!

For those of you (like me) who didn’t initially know the distinction: TEDx events are professionally curated, independently organized TED-affiliated events that bring together voices from local and global communities. Each year, only a small number of talks from these events are selected by the TED editorial team to be featured on TED.com - their main platform that reaches a global audience in the millions.

And… mine was one of them.

My talk “Lean In, Speak Up: Igniting Change Through Courageous Conversations” will be released on TED.com at 8am PT / 11am ET on April 25th.

I’m deeply honoured - and incredibly grateful - for this journey. To the coaches, the TEDx RRU curators and organizing team, my fellow speakers, my family and friends: thank you for walking alongside me.

And to anyone who’s dreaming of stepping into something big, something that scares and stretches you - I hope this serves as a nudge to keep going.

(Have your tickets to this year’s hashtag#TEDxRRU event?? May 2nd! Check it out!)
